- After an extensive 3 year In-Service Performance Evaluation, Ohio DOT found its first high-tension cable installation to be performance very effective
- 354 accidents were logged with the installed cable :
215 were Property Damage Only accidents
- Only 39 reported any injury, 13 of those were noted as being possibly severe
- No fatalities
- Location of interchanges did not have impact on barrier placement
- 79 of the accidents had crossed the median center ditch line and impacted the cable from the back side (only feet from opposite direction traffic)
- But the most telling of all the statistics:

17 fatal crashes (21 fatalities)

4 fatal crashes (4 fatalities)

9 cross-over crashes (11 fatalities)
